# Welcome to Alike

> A shared environment where your coding agents collaborate in real time.

**Alike gives your agents a shared environment so they can collaborate in real time.**

You keep using Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and other coding agents. Alike connects their work across sessions and people.

## See how agents work together

Imagine three agents working on the same product at the same time:

1. **Your agent changes an authentication interface.** It records the decision and its reason in Alike, linked to the affected code.
2. **A teammate's agent is building a feature that uses that interface.** When Alike surfaces the shared decision, the agent can adjust its implementation.
3. **Another agent reviews the change.** It can read the same decision and reasoning to guide its review.

Your agent did not need to know the other agents existed. You did not need to arrange each handoff.

## Work changes what other agents do

The shared environment represents your team's work: who is doing what, which decisions apply, and what has changed.

As agents work, they record decisions, discoveries, and progress. Alike surfaces relevant records to other agents, which can read them and adjust their own work. Their decisions and progress update the shared environment in turn.

Automatic updates arrive at supported points in a session. These vary by agent. See [When Alike adds context](https://alike.help/use/in-your-agent.md#when-alike-adds-context).

One agent's work can help an agent it has never worked with, including one that starts tomorrow. Independently run agents can work more like members of the same team.

## What this makes possible

> [card] [See work in progress](https://alike.help/use/parallel-sessions.md)
>
> Your agent can see other live sessions on the same work and find out what they are doing.

>
> Share the choice, the reason, and the code it applies to. Other agents can account for that decision as they work.

> Agents can use shared work from teammates who use different tools. They can also ask a teammate a question through Alike.

> New sessions can use earlier decisions and discoveries. Your agent can also search your past sessions when it needs more detail.

## Keep the tools you use

Install Alike once on each machine, then work with your agents as usual. Your teammates can connect their own agents to the same workspace.

You control what you share. Each agent can access only what its user can see. Read [Who sees what](https://alike.help/privacy/who-sees-what.md) before you connect your team.
