# Sign up and set up your workspace

> Create an account, join or create a workspace, and finish Builder setup.

## Create an account

1. Go to [alike.network](https://alike.network) and select **Sign Up**.
2. If Alike asks for an invite code, enter your 6-character code and select **Redeem Invite Code**. See [Invite codes](#invite-codes).
3. Enter your full name, email, and a password of 6 or more characters. Select **Create Account**.
4. Verify your email. Click the link in the email, or select **Enter code instead** and type the 6-digit code.

Alike uses email and password only. You cannot sign in with Google or GitHub.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Google and Microsoft buttons appear later, in **Integrations**. They connect your calendar and email to Alike. They are not sign-in methods.

### Invite codes

Alike can be in closed beta. Then sign-up asks for an invite code first.

* **No code?** Select **Join the Waitlist**. Alike sends you a code when a place opens.
* **A workspace invite link is not an invite code.** If a teammate sent you a link that starts with `alike.network/join/`, Alike can still ask you for an invite code when you create your account. Ask the teammate or [support@alike.work](mailto:support@alike.work).

## Join or create a workspace

A workspace is the group of people who share context in Alike, usually your company or team.

* **Company email**: Alike looks for workspaces that allow your email domain. Select **Join** on the workspace. Or select **Or create a new workspace**.
* **Personal email** (for example Gmail): you create a workspace. You can invite people with a link later.
* **Invite link**: open the link. Alike adds you to that workspace.

When you create a workspace with a company email, you can turn on **Allow @your-domain to join**. People with an email address at your domain can then find and join the workspace.

## Choose how you work

If Alike asks **How do you work?**, select **I build with AI agents**. This gives you the Builder experience: the installer, agent activity, analytics, and the world model.

You can change it later in **Settings → Experience**.

## Connect your agents

The **Connect your agents** page shows:

* The install command, `npx @alikeai/setup`, and a prompt that you can give to a coding agent.
* **Setup progress**: **Paired**, **Verified**, **First real session**, and **First injection**. The last two light up after you restart your agents and run a session.
* **Enter your pairing code**: type the code from your terminal here. Before you finish setup, the pairing link opens this page without the code.
* **Connect your tools**, after you pair: GitHub, Linear, Slack, calendar, email, and more.

You can select **Continue** before you pair. You can pair later in **Settings → AI Agents**.

> [!WARNING]
>
> When you select **Continue**, Alike applies the **High Sharing** preset. Your workspace then sees your agents' session summaries, your decisions, your documents, and your calendar events. To share less, change the preset in **Settings → Privacy**. See [Who sees what](https://alike.help/privacy/who-sees-what.md).
>
> If you open this page again later and select **Continue**, Alike applies **High Sharing** again. To pair later, use **Settings → AI Agents** instead.

## The dashboard tour

On your first visit to the dashboard on a computer, a short tour shows the main pages. Select **Skip tour** to close it. The tour shows once. See [The dashboard](https://alike.help/use/dashboard.md).
